Magnificent Frigatebird - Fregata magnificens

The Magnificent Frigatebird is a large bird, averaging 38-40 inches in length and having an eight-foot wingspan.  Its mostly black in color with very long pointed wings, a deeply forked tail, and a long hooked bill.  The male has a brilliant red throat pouch in breeding season and inflates it to huge size during courtship.  The female has a white-colored breast.  Young birds have a white head and under parts.  These birds eat fish, squid, and crustaceans plucked from the water's surface.  They also rob other seabirds of their food.
