There are four species of Godwits found in the U.S., although only one of these, the Marbled Godwit, is frequently found in Florida, and then only during the winter season.  The Marbled Godwit is a large shorebird (16-20 inches) with a very long, straight or slightly upturned bill.  The bill is pinkish in color with a dark tip.  The upper parts of the bird are a mottled brown and the under parts cinnamon with dark bars.  They are found along the coast where they frequent shores, tidal flats, and beaches.  They feed on mollusks, worms, crustaceans, and insects.
