| Ibises, along with Spoonbills, belong to the family Threskiornithidae.
A distinguishing feature of the Ibises are their bills, which are long and curve
downward. They are long-legged aquatic birds that feed on small fish,
insects, crustaceans, frogs, and lizards. They inhabit coastal marshes,
mud flats, and swamps. There are three species that breed in North
America: White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, and the White-faced Ibis. The Glossy
Ibis and White Ibis are commonly found in Florida. The White-faced
Ibis is a rare bird in Florida. |
