Whites & Yellows - family Pieridae

Whites and Yellows, also known as Pierids, are butterflies that have white, yellow, or orange wings with small amounts of black or red.  The colors are due to the presence of pteridines, pigments rarily found in other buterfly families.  Their flight is usually low and rapid with short stops.
