| The Wood Stork is the only member of the Stork family that is
found in North America. These birds are found throughout Florida.
The Wood Stork is a large, long-legged white bird with black tail and flight
feathers. It has a gray-black featherless head and a heavy, dark,
down-curved bill. The bill is yellowish in immature birds. They are
found in cypress swamps and mangroves, ponds, and marshes on or near the
coast. Fish form a large part of their diet. |
