Wood Stork - Mycteria americana

The Wood Stork is the only member of the Stork family that is found in North America.  These birds are found throughout Florida.  The Wood Stork is a large, long-legged white bird with black tail and flight feathers.  It has a gray-black featherless head and a heavy, dark, down-curved bill.  The bill is yellowish in immature birds.  They are found in cypress swamps and mangroves, ponds, and marshes on or near the coast.  Fish form a large part of their diet.
